Erkki Buska, Outokumpu region industrial village

This is how the Outokumpu region industrial park was born.

The industrial park was established in 1979 to diversify the business life of the Outokumpu region, as it was known that mining activities would end in the 80s. The challenge for the entire region was to come together to diversify and develop the business life. The industrial park played a significant role in this challenge, and it succeeded in doing so.

The Outokumpu people's cause was taken forward by Pertti Voutilainen and Raimo Sailas, who later became nationally known names, as well as several entrepreneurs from Outokumpu and influential figures from the region. With hard work and decentralized investment subsidies, the wheel of development was set in motion. Soon the first industrial hall was built on the pine forest of Turula. After many expansions, that hall (20,000 m²) is still home to Turulan Konepaja, now Turula Engineering Oy.

The owners of the industrial park – the City of Outokumpu and the Municipality of Polvijärvi – are strongly involved in supporting our company as we build premises for our client companies. Here, we are used to doing concrete work, regardless of the time, to developing the operating environment and conditions of companies.

Today, our client companies include more and more small service and expert companies, as well as education sector operators, who value the services of the Industrial Park, including in terms of targeted training, or even in arranging conference facilities and catering.
